Uganda is a land of contrasts.

In just half a day you can drive from misty volcanic mountains to stunning savannah, dappled with iconic wildlife. Serene undulating hills of tea plantations give way to the tangled beauty of jungles and rainforests, blessed with the musical notes of local birdlife. The tiniest sunbirds, the massive lumbering yet silent elephant, the chimpanzees crashing about the forest canopy, the lugubrious gorilla, chewing thoughtfully in the bamboo thicket. Then there is the famous Nile River, twisting its way north like a shimmering ribbon… and smiling faces everywhere you visit.

It is all here, a feast for all of your senses!!!

*Uganda officially reopened to all international tourists on 1st October 2020.

Nile Safari Lodge actively supports conservation projects around the lodge and have initiated several ground-breaking community development projects, in which they will gladly involve guests. A solar system does it all from lighting the spacious bandas, heating water and pumping water from River Nile. The lodge only operates generators to boost the system and to operate washing machines. Herbs and Vegetables also come from the lodge’s own garden.

Semliki Safari Lodge has an active conservation programme and community participation, working with the local communities on the edge of the reserve, communicating the benefits of conservation involving them in the lodge operations, training them to be guides. Through the establishment of the Semliki Conservation Trust, the lodge have worked in the area of public health in the local communities, focussing on maternal nutritional health.

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is owned by the community of Nkuringo (designed, built and managed by Wildplaces Africa) as part of a conservation protect spearheaded by the International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP) and the Africa Wildlife Foundation (AWF). The community earns a significant share of the revenue and there are many spin-off benefits from these earnings.
