Madikwe Hills Safari Lodge
Set within 75 000 hectares of safari park, Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge is situated on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa. Ingeniously set amongst boulders and age-old Tamboti trees, the private game lodge is situated in the middle of Madikwe, giving visitors a huge game drive advantage over other lodges situated on the borders of the reserve and offers guests the most amazing South African safari adventure.
Madikwe Game Reserve is home not only to the ‘Big 5’ of Africa (Lion, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino and Leopard), but also to a wealth of over 66 mammal species, including the rare African Wild Dog, as well as Cheetah, Eland, Kudu, Giraffe and a range of more than 300 resident and migratory species of birds.
Knowledgeable and professional rangers conduct early morning and late afternoon, or evening game drives in search of Africa’s big game and smaller wildlife. On morning game drives, should you be feeling energetic, you may choose to experience an up-close-and-personal glimpse of the African bush on foot with a gentle bush walk through the bush back to the Lodge.
Kings Camp Safari Lodge
Situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Kings Camp faces an open savanna plain with a waterhole, which is frequented by a wide variety of wildlife both day and night.
As part of the greater Kruger National Park, which covers an area of 2.2 million hectares, this Timbavati safari lodge is a wildlife haven boasting a diversity of animal life including the Big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo). With 100 km² of bush to traverse, you have plenty of space to explore the endless variety of Africa’s wildlife in an open Land Rover or on foot.
Guests planning a Timbavati safari at Kings Camp can look forward to twice daily game drives in custom-designed safari vehicles, night drives with a spotlight in search of nocturnal creatures, guided bush walks and specialised bird watching safaris with expert guides. SAFARI FOR CHANGE
Madikwe Game Reserve have re-introduced various species onto the reserve, including wild dog, lion and cheetah. Madikwe Hills is part of the local Rhino Trust Fund – one of the programmes in the Madikwe Game Reserve in which rhino population is notched and micro-chipped to help safeguard from poaching. Madikwe Hills continue to assist anti-poaching efforts by auctioning guest stays at the lodge to help raise funds – this cannot be achieved without your support.
Madikwe Hills have implemented environmentally friendly cleaning treatments on property and significantly reduced their power use. All guests receive a re-usable water bottle for use during their stay.
The Timbavati Conservation Fund is used for the management of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The Timbavati Conservation Fund has a dedicated anti-poaching team, which is responsible for all area integrity related actions. The conservation fee, paid by guests visiting Kings Camp, also finances an important community outreach project – The Timbavati Foundation. Timbavati Foundation created the Timbavati Environmental School, with the foundation offering education, conservation & environmental awareness, community upliftment, social care and health care to the local community.
