YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS

Arusha Coffee Lodge, 1 night

Lying on the gently rolling foothills that cascade down from the ever-present Mount Meru is the bustling and vibrant town of Arusha. It is here on the outskirts of this town, hidden amongst one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations, that you will find Arusha Coffee Lodge, a perfect haven for relaxation either before or after any East African safari.

AndBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, 3 nights

Lake Manyara National Park offers a true wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Cradled in the boughs of an ancient mahogany forest, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge blends into the natural beauty of its breathtaking surroundings. Most people think that the famous tree-climbing lions here have developed their climbing habit to get away from annoying insects… or perhaps they’re jealous of the magnificent treehouse suites?

Designed to exert minimal impact on the environment, the lodge offers an exclusive interpretive safari in a more remote area of the National Park. Gentle Tanzanian hospitality is exuded from the team, who have a passion for delighting guests, whether you are on honeymoon, or a family safari.

Nine stilted treehouse suites, crafted from local timber and makuti palm fronds, boast a sophisticated blend of intimacy and romance, offering privacy and exclusivity in the cool, leafy surroundings, which often has elephant visitors passing through.

Overlooking a forest boma, or outdoor dining area, lined with traditional dugout canoes, guest areas are characterised by soaring spaces that house local artworks and tactile fabrics. An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe, or help with, the preparation of delicious dishes that are enjoyed in the theatrical boma or on the open dining decks. Treat yourself to a massage in the massage sala, surrounded by a lush forest or relax at the pool in the heat of the afternoon.

AndBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, 3 nights

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge has been called the game lodge at the top of the world. Between the natural riches of the Crater spread out at its feet and the incredible architecture, it’s easy to believe that you have entered a realm of pure fantasy.

Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. Endangered black rhino are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephant wander the forests, male lion stalk the grasslands and flamingo crowd the soda lakes. Nowhere else on earth can you wake up among all the trappings of an elegant baroque châteaux that transports you into one of the most famous African landscapes. An eclectic blend of teak panelling, Victorian furnishings and whimsical African touches creates a sumptuous atmosphere that is as elegant and unique as the Crater itself. In this place of dramatic contrasts, anything is possible and the natural luxury of the beautiful setting ensures the dramatic interior of your suite blends perfectly with its stilted thatch architecture.

Divided into three camps, 30 suites with banana leaf ceilings and grass roofs provide an intimate and exclusive experience. Each camp has its own sitting and dining areas, with private butlers who provide warm, personal service. With ever-changing views as mists swirl over the huge wildlife cauldron below, the location is truly breath-taking. Guests can be forgiven for losing track of which era, or even continent, they are experiencing at this lodge. Everything is chosen to delight the imagination and enhance the spectacular views of the magnificent surroundings.

AndBeyond Kleins Camp, 4 nights

In a remote corner of the game-rich Serengeti National Park, a 10 000 hectare (24 700 acre) wildlife concession leased from Maasai landlords offers guests an exclusive, Tanzanian safari at Klein’s Camp. Perched on the edge of the Kuka Hills, the Camp commands breathtaking views down the valley that borders the Serengeti and the Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy exclusive game viewing, thrilling night game drives, bush dining, Maasai culture and old-fashioned safari luxury.

Embodying the very soul of the Serengeti, this private and remote camp offers guests the spirit of wild Africa. Set in a landscape that is gentle yet rugged, this Camp reflects the heart of this untamed land with a vintage safari style. The stone interiors of the guest areas open up to breathtaking panoramas, with open fireplaces to keep the chill away. Featuring a beautifully furnished bar and sitting area, stone floors and deep leather armchairs invite you to while away the hours.

Boasting one of the finest views in Africa, spend afternoons on your personal verandah overlooking smoky views of distant hills. Wooded hillsides, rolling grasslands and forested river banks, all teem with rich wildlife in this natural haven. Browse in the beautiful Safari Shop that displaying locally-made Maasai crafts. Fresh vegetables picked from the camp’s organic vegetable garden, are used to create wholesome dishes. Meals are served in the main dining area, or under the stars on the concession.

YOUR EXPERIENCES

Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the vast elephant families it was established to protect. The shores of the lake, encrusted with seasonal pink flamingo, attract more than 400 species of waterfowl and migrant birds. The lake itself, creates a spectacular translucence, making sunrises and sunsets truly spectacular. &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in the park, which allows you to experience your own private golden glow of sunset or watch the flamingos with every shade of pink.

Game drives from &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge explores areas of the park that cannot be reached by day visitors and are undisturbed by others. Each morning and afternoon set off in the company of your guide and tracker in an open 4×4 safari vehicle with a canvas canopy. Explore the diverse habitats of the park, stopping on the lakeshore to admire the different bird species and look for pink flamingo. You will traverse a mosaic of acacia woodlands, grassy floodplains and tall forest in search of wildlife, including Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, which may be spotted resting in favoured spots and large family herds of elephant.

Rich in game and one of Tanzania’s smaller wilderness enclaves, Lake Manyara National Park is a magnificent terrain. A fascinating environment to be at one with nature, and really appreciate and gasp at the extraordinary world of wildlife.

Guests have the opportunity to interact with the KopeLion conservation team to get a deeper understanding of their day to day operations and what it is really like for the Maasai to live side by side with wildlife. Not only does this family friendly adventure showcase the real-life world of lions, but each booking generates a donation to the Lion Recovery Fund and also includes signature lion conservation experiences offered by KopeLion.

Other activities include: Spend the day with the Hadzabe people, ancient hunter-gatherers who inhabit the land near Lake Eyasi, a gorgeous soda lake that’s part of the Great Rift Valley of East Africa, and witness their unchanged, traditional way of life and harmony with the earth. Enjoy a full day Empakai Crater hike, a lunch banquet on the Crater floor

Your last stop is the fabled Serengeti National Park, where you will escape the crowds on the private concession with access to the Serengeti. This strategic wildlife sanctuary borders the Serengeti, with wildlife moving through these areas. With only &Beyond vehicles on sightings, sensitive off-road driving enables us to get closer to the game. Game drives are tailored to suit your preference, with a choice between shorter, twice-daily drives or one full-day game drive, with a stop for a picnic lunch. The game drives are carefully planned to anticipate the progress of the Great Migration, so you should not have to travel too far to see the vast herds.

Intertwined with the local Maasai communities, from whom the land is leased, be exposed to this culture in an authentic way. Interact with Maasai people daily and visit a boma not far from the Camp, and learn about the day to day activities, responsibilities and culture of this tribe.
