ITINERARY at a glance

Day 1: Overnight at Rivertrees Country Inn, Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your Asilia driver and 4×4 vehicle will be waiting for you. Your driver will take you on a 40-minute drive to Rivertrees Country Inn, where you will begin your northern Tanzanian adventure. Once a coffee farm, the property has been transformed into four hectares of sprawling greenery. It provides a peaceful place for a one-night stop to recover from your international flight before you make your way to the Tarangire National Park.

Day 2 & 3: Overnight at Oliver’s, Tarangire National Park
In the morning, enjoy a quick breakfast before departing to Tarangire National Park. The drive is approximately four hours, but the scenery along the way makes it worth it. Once in the park, you’ll venture into the remote southern region for two nights on safari at Oliver’s. The secluded camp is far from its closest neighbour and you’re not likely to see other vehicles on game drives. The area is perhaps best known for its large herds of elephant, and you’re likely to spot them frolicking in the waters of the swamp. In the mornings, enjoy breakfast on the deck as you watch the sun rise and the wildlife begin to stir before heading out on a game drive or taking a bush walk with one of our guides.

Day 4 & 5: Overnight at The Highlands, Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Enjoy a light breakfast at Oliver’s before driving through the scenic Great Rift Valley on the way from Tarangire to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing local coffee farms and villages along the way. The Highlands has redefined the Ngorongoro experience and taken it to a new level – quite literally. At 2, 700 m above sea level, you can enjoy sweeping views across the region from your room. You’ll spend one full day here and have the option of enjoying a game drive in the famous Ngorongoro Crater, visiting local villages or experiencing the beauty of the area on foot by hiking the nearby Empakaai or Olmoti volcanic craters.

Day 6–8: Overnight at Dunia, Serengeti National Park
Taking a packed lunch, you will spend today driving around the Ngorongoro Crater and down into the vast plains of the Serengeti, enjoying game drives once you enter the park. You will be staying in the centre of the park near the Moru Kopjes, home to black rhino and away from the crowds. The Serengeti’s only all-female-staffed camp is your home for the next few days, and the incredible women of Dunia will welcome you with song and dance. The camp is the ideal base for an iconic safari experience where many different species of wildlife, including migrating wildebeest herds and big cats, are frequently seen.

Day 9–11: Overnight at Matemwe, Zanzibar
After nine days of adventure and excitement exploring some of northern Tanzania’s best wilderness areas, Zanzibar is perfect for those wanting to unwind and relax in comfort. Bid your guide farewell at the airstrip in the Serengeti and fly to Zanzibar across the turquoise Indian Ocean, where a driver will transfer you to Matemwe in the north of the island. Make time for a dip in the pool, an indulgent spa treatment, and a snooze in the hammock. Once you’re feeling more energetic, you can enjoy a snorkel off beautiful Mnemba Island and its coral reefs, or grab a kayak and paddle around Zanzibar’s coastline.

Day 12: Departure
Today, you will be driven back to Zanzibar’s Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, a journey of approximately 90 minutes. Here, you can check in for your international flight home.
