When you stay at Stanley & Livingstone, Victoria Falls is yours to discover – or to pause in on an active Southern African itinerary. Our hotel’s thoughtful comforts, attentive service, and excellent food enhance your experience by ensuring you are very well taken care of – a hallmark of Stanley & Livingstone. And it is for you to decide how much or little to do…

The 118,000-hectare private Sapi Concession was awarded to Great Plains Conservation to manage and look after in 2016 and was immediately converted to a private photographic reserve.

The camp offers a base to explore the Sapi Reserve, Mana Pools and the Zambezi River, an intimate and exclusive camp, with only 5 Explorers-style tents, each with en-suite shower and flush toilet. Sapi Explorers Camp offers a safari experience reminiscent of the old African explorers, the perfect combination of romance, adventure and discovery.

The focus of your stay is exploring one of Africa’s remote wilderness areas on foot and on our specially designed vehicles, but we also canoe and boat on the Zambezi River. Traverse Sapi’s diverse terrain and like early explorers, you’ll discover the legendary Mtawatawa Pan, and encountering some of Africa’s largest wildlife species. Guests have the opportunity to experience up-close encounters with elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog, buffalo, eland, zebra and plenty of other species. This is also prime bird-watching country and opportunities abound for guests to spot resident and migrant species especially in the early morning and late afternoons. At the end of the day a decent botanical gin, from our own distillery and of our own label, will set the scene and transport you back to the 1920s a romantic era in the exploration of Africa.

This exclusive camp consists of 7 comfortable raised tents, built on the edge of the cliff, facing east, with a view of the rising sun above the magnificent Zambezi Valley floor.

Each tent has been designed with an emphasis on privacy and is surrounded by insect repellent gauze, allowing the air to circulate, contributing to maximum coolness. Inside each tent are 2 comfortable beds in flexible arrangements, to cater for everyone’s needs, as well as an en-suite bathroom. In front, your private veranda directly over the edge of the cliff, giving a feeling of infinite space.

If it’s adventure you seek, you can go walking, tracking, study the birds, or explore the hills and river systems with your professional guide. You can also go out for a game drive or hang out in the hide, at waterhole level, enjoying the incredible chance to be right in the middle of a herd of African wildlife – you might get splashed by an elephant. Or you could relax in camp with a drink in hand taking in the view.

Whatever you choose, Kavinga Safari Camp will offer you a truly unique experience in an untouched wilderness.
